Adventure Camp

 

Adventure Camp is a place where campers spend time in the outdoors, challenge themselves, and make new friends. Adventure Camp strives to create a supportive, growth-oriented community where campers encounter challenging new experiences and enjoy time in the outdoors.

What is Adventure Camping?

Participants are camping at a stationary base camp that is only accessible by backpacking (trekking).
Adventure Camping is at a location that is not accessible by vehicles.
Adventure Camping must follow the Adventure Activity requirements.


1. Requires skilled leadership
2. Pre-activity instruction/training for all participants.
3. Waiver form must be signed by parents or participant if age of
majority.
4. Adventure Activities are Red level Safe Guide activities and must be
submitted at least 3 weeks before the date of the event.
5. Girls must be Pathfinder age or older for adventure camping
6. At least 2 adult supervisors are required.
7. Maximum size of group is 12 including supervisors, minimum is 5 – this
can be increased when approved by the Safe Guide Adviser.
8. When EMS is over 4 hours, 1 adult must have Wilderness First Aid.
Examples of Adventure Camping:
• Backpacking 3- 5 km in on a backpack trail at a provincial park. Camping
for 1- 2 nights and if a layover day- doing a day trip to another site for
lunch.

If you change sites, then it is classed Adventure Tripping.
